Description
The Biocompound Shunt® is a highly flexible tubing made of stainless surgical steel for the repair of aneurysm which have formed in arterio-venous shunts. It is designed to provide support of the shunt following aneurysm repair and to prevent relapse. Following arterio-venous shunt surgery in dialysis patients, a possible complication is the formation of an aneurysm. After resection of the aneurysm the surgeon prepares a Biocompound Shunt® with the braided tubing and the accompanying application set. The braided tubing is slipped over the repaired vessel. The Biocompound Shunt® provides support of the repaired shunt whilst allowing access for dialysis.On the basis of known cases, even proven bacterial infection of the Biocompound Graft® can be completely cured and made recurrence-free with local surgical measures and antibiotic treatment.
Indication
Patients with aneurysmal arterio-venous fistula.
